The Isesjø necklace is inspired by the tranquil and calming beauty of the Isesjø lake in Sarpsborg, Norway, with the blend of blues and greens mirroring the lake’s serene waters and surrounding forest and fields.
The necklace has been fully tested by an independent, accredited lab, and conforms to UK, EU/EEA, Canadian and US safety standards. It is free from harmful toxins and completely safe (more about our safety credentials here) and the cord is soft yet strong. The hypoallergenic materials make it suitable for sensitive skin too.

Sensory features
| Touch | All beads on this necklace have a smooth feel, with a slight tactile resistance. They are squeezable, but not soft. The hexagon bead has edges which are rounded to minimise sharpness. |
|---|---|
| Chew | The beads are safely chewable and made from safe, food-grade silicone. When you chew them, the pressure from your teeth will make the beads give slight way, offering a satisfying sensory experience and supporting a calm and focused mind (all without damaging your teeth). The chewable feature helps reduce anxiety and stress, making it ideal for both adults and children. For more on benefits, see this page. The cord is unwaxed and chosen for its ability to be safely chewed. |
| Pull | The safety clasp makes it possible to pull at the necklace without worrying about damage to the necklace or your neck. The cord is similarly chosen for its sturdiness and durability. |
| Slide | All beads are moveable and can be moved back and forth along the cord. |
| Twirl | All beads are can be twirled 360 degrees around the cord. |
| See | The blue and green shades give a sense of peace, just like the calm waters of the lake. |
Design inspiration
Isesjø lake is only 6km² large, but has a whopping 25km² shoreline, accounting for its many bends and nooks. There are walking trails around the whole lake, which many locals use frequently – while some of it is private land, the landowners are required by law to keep the trails open for anyone wanting to visit and are not allowed to build on the land (they are allowed to let their livestock roam there, though, so you better watch out for cows, goats and sheep).
The lake is a short 15-minute walk away from the house I grew up in, and my family used to go there for short walks that inevitably ended up at the lake beach where we would always eat hot dogs, and (in winter) drink hot chocolate – both of which we’d brought from home in thermoses. When I was very young, we’d go there for ice skating near the shore if the ice had frozen solid enough – something I’m not sure I’d be as comfortable doing on an open lake today. Recently, a “Friends of Isesjø Lake” group built a wooden lean-to, complete with table and benches covered in sheepskin for a comfortable rest during those long, cold winter walks (and for eating those hot dogs).
